Abdul is an ST7 in Cardiothoracic surgery and co-chair of the National Trainee Committee for Cardiothoracic surgery. He also represents the specialty in the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASIT). He is passionate about medical education, and a proponent for equality in training and evidence based practice.

Mr Duncan Steele
Cardiothoracic Trainee Representative for the UK & Ireland
Duncan is an ST8 in Cardiothoracic surgery and has co-chaired the National Trainee Committee for Cardiothoracic surgery for the past 2 years. Nearing completion, he understands the importance of a robust training programme and is passionate about ensuring the trainees of today are nurtured into the leaders of tomorrow.

Mr Ghazi Elshafie
Treasurer, BAME & Website Content Lead
Ghazi is an ST7 in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery. He is also a fellow of The Higher Education Academy, an Honorary Lecturer at Hull and York Medical School and holds an MD from the University of Birmingham. Ghazi is the Treasurer of the NTCCTS and contact point for all sponsors and partners.

Mr Joshil V Lodhia
Innovations Representative
Josh is an ST8 in Cardiohoracic surgery in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery and the innovations representative. He has an interest in surgical innovations and is currently working with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to update ELogbook for cardiothoracic surgery and is the contact point for training innovations.

Mr Azar Hussain
Academic Trainee Representative
Azar is an NIHR clinical lecturer at Hull York Medical School and a cardiothoracic trainee in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery. He has a passion for research and holds both an MD and MSc. He is trained in trial design, conduct and critical analysis and has a firm grasp of the basic sciences. Azar is the lead for all academic activities at the NTCCTS.

Dr Devan D Limbachia
ST1 Representative
Devan is an ST1 Cardiothoracic Trainee based in the West Midlands deanery and the newly appointed ST1 representative. Alongside his clinical duties, Devan is currently undertaking an MSc in Surgical Sciences with RCSEd and University of Edinburgh and is a current RCSEd Affiliate Fellow, a role which he seeks to unite with his position on the NTCCTS for greater impact.

Mr Andrew Jones
ST2 Representative
Andrew is an ST2 Trainee based in Wales and the ST2 representative. He has a keen interest in sports, particularly running, thai boxing and formula 1. As part of his role as ST2 representative he has recently designed and written the new ST1 cardiothoracic surgery welcome guide to support incoming ST1 colleagues settle into their new roles.

Mr Walid Mohamed
ST3 Representative
Walid is an ST3 Registrar based in Wessex, having previously completed his core surgical training in the East Midlands. As part of his role as ST3 Rep, he is involved in coordinating the national trainer awards and publishing guidance documents for trainees. Walid is happy to be contacted by anyone interested in the specialty.

Mr Amer Harky
ST5 Representative
Amer is an ST5 Registrar at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and the ST5 representative. He holds an MSc in Advanced surgical practice. He is a column section editor at the Journal of Visualized surgery, and editorial board member at the Journal of Cardiac surgery. He is the contact point for any items related to ST5.

ST6 Representative
Megan is an ST6 Registrar in the North West Deanery with a sub speciality interest in adult thoracic surgery. She is the NTCCTS ST6 representative. Mr Mohammad Diab
ST7 Representative
Mohammad is an ST7 Cardiothoracic Registrar in the Southwest Deanery. He has an interest in lung cancer, minimally access surgery and research. He is very keen on medical education and training, and is the co-founder of the national weekly cardio-thoracic surgery virtual teaching sessions aimed at trainees in the specialty.

Foundations Representative
Jason is an Academic Foundation Year 2 doctor in Cardiothoracic surgery based at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. He received both the SCTS medical student and foundation doctors fellowship prizes. He organises national teaching for foundation doctors and medical students interested in the specialty.

Foundations Representative & Webmaster
Hanad is an Academic Foundation Year 1 Doctor in Cardiothoracic Surgery with the University of Cambridge. He holds a BSc in Healthcare Management and was awarded the SCTS medical student fellowship prize. He is NTCCTS Webmaster and organises national teaching for medical students and foundation doctors.

Owais is a Research Fellow in the South Thames deanery and has an interest in medical education and surgical simulation. With the majority of recruitment into the specialty occurring at ST1, he is passionate about ensuring the adequate engagement of foundation trainees and medical students through national teaching series.
