National Teaching Webinars
National Specialty Registrar Teaching Programme
The UK and Ireland national teaching programme in Cardiothoracic Surgery was commenced in May 2020 as a response to the cessation of educational activities and courses due to the COVID - 19 pandemic. Sessions run Tuesday evening and Friday morning.
The founding deaneries involved in the initiative were Wessex, Oxford and Severn with London joining in Jun 2021. The programme is a collaborative between the centres started by Mohammed Diab (Severn), Priya Sastry (Oxford) Daniel Fudulu (Severn), Hani Ali-Ghosh (Wessex), Abdul Badran (Wessex and SCTS Trainee Representative)
The weekly programme has been incredibly successful attracting a regular audience of trainees and consultants. Cardiac and Thoracic Topics are related to the FRCS CT-h curriculum but with some clinically and academically important discussions also covered.

Foundations of Cardiothoracic Surgery Teaching Programme
The Foundations of Cardiothoracic Surgery teaching programme was set up in 2021 in response to the lack of centralised national teaching aimed at foundation doctors and core trainees. These webinars cover both the practical aspects of a career in cardiothoracic surgery, including entry into the specialty and clinical topics of relevance to foundation doctors and core trainees.
